The new Pikmin The AR game will be the first to be developed by Niantic̵
“Niantic’s AR technology has made it possible for us to experience the world as if Pikmin live in secret around us, “Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto said in a statement. “Based on the theme of making it fun to walk, our mission is to give people a new experience that is different from traditional games. We hope that Pikmin and this app becomes a partner in your life. ”
The Pikmin franchise is about exploring a very earth-like planet with packages of the cute Pikmin creatures, then a Niantic team Pikmin Games about going and exploring the world around you make a lot of sense. The last game in Pikmin the series is the Nintendo Switch Pikmin 3 Deluxe, an upgraded version of the 2013 game first released for the Wii U.
Niantic did not say what other games they will make with Nintendo, but it sounds like the two companies have secured a kind of long-term partnership. “We are honored that Nintendo has chosen Niantic as the publisher of AR applications in real life,” Niantic said. More information about upcoming apps will be revealed “in the coming months.”
Niantic is best known for Pokémon Go, the hugely popular mobile AR game released in July 2016. The game is still quite popular despite being almost five years old, although Niantic has had to make some changes to the game while many have stayed inside due to COVID-19 pandemic. These changes did not stop Pokémon Go from generating money handed over the fist, but – 2020 was the game’s biggest year yet, exceeding $ 1 billion in revenue as of November, according to app analysis company Sensor Tower.
