Developer People Can Fly’s collaborative sci-fi-looter-shooter Outriders is scheduled to launch on April 1 this year, and those eager to learn more before its full release will have the opportunity to put the early game through their paces next week. , courtesy of a new demo.
Outrider’s demo – People Can Fly emphasizes that it’s a demo, rather than a beta, which means it’s completely free, does not require pre-order or pre-purchase, and is not limited ̵
Console owners will look for a download of at least 22 GB, while the PC demo weighs in a little more powerful 24 GB, and once installed, players can access all four of the Outriders classes, which can be taken for a test drive across of the prologue and opening chapter – meaning that equipment and enemies will be early game variants, rather than their more exotic counterparts in later games.
People Can Fly says that the demo – which includes support for collaboration across games, albeit in beta form – will continue as far as the showdown against the first rival Altered, Gauss. Defeating him, however, will open the way for a series of side missions, providing an incentive to return and explore the world.
In particular, there is no time limit on the demo, which means players can mess with it for as long as they want, but there is a character level cap of 7 (far enough to unlock two skill points and the class’ fourth ability), so players are not overly massive if they choose to transfer progress to the entire game. There is also a cap on resources for a similar reason, although People Can Fly notes that the associated design system will not be available in the demo.
By the way, progress is only transferable to the entire Outriders experience on the same platform account, and those who use the Steam demo will not be able to move the progress to the Epic Store if they prefer to buy a place there.
People Can Fly’s full demo announcement also includes release information for all territories plus details on the demo’s World Tier ceiling of five, if you’re curious to learn more. Outriders gets its full PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One and PC launch on April 1st.
