Path Of Exiles’ next update is Echoes Of The Atlas, released January 15th

Path Of Exiles’ next expansion is called Echoes Of The Atlas, which was announced earlier tonight in a Twitch livestream. It’s adding the usual mix of new free-to-play hack-and-slasher features, including new maps, endgame content and a new challenge league. You can play on January 15, but you can go below to see the announcement and read some more details.

Here is the official trailer:

Update 3.13 for Path Of Exile is called Echoes Of The Atlas, and it introduces eleven new maps, reworked climbs, passive skill trees for the Atlas map in the game, and new endgame bosses.

I’m not sure I’ve ever looked at Path Of Exile and thought, “What this needs is more skill trees.” And yet: The new passive trees in Atlas are skill trees that sit on the game’s map, with a different skill tree for each area. If you are an existing experienced player, it is a way to introduce a bunch of new meaningful decisions on your journey through the game.

Each expansion of Path Of Exile also introduces a new challenge league, where players compete to rush through levels with a fresh character. This time it’s the Ritual League, where players trigger rituals that summon a large number of enemies to kill, and each triggered ritual also summons each enemy from each previously completed ritual. It seems that the number of enemies will escalate to absurd numbers, but there are systems that allow you to adjust the risk and reward of each match before you start it.

The new endgame content is focused on a scary new character named Maven, who likes to see you fight. By defeating bosses, you will eventually have the opportunity to summon her to any part of the map so she can see you fighting other bosses. Success in these battles finally asks Maven to invite you to her realm, where she has made copies of the previously defeated bosses, so you can fight groups of them simultaneously in increasing numbers, to a maximum of 10.

There are a number of other additions and changes, including previous challenge leagues like Harvest being folded into the base game, which you can see by watching the entire content revealed on YouTube.

Path Of Exiles developers have released a new expansion every three months for many years, almost without error. This latest expansion is a rare occurrence of one of the release dates slipping, but it’s not because it was not done. That’s because they did not want to drop at the same time as Cyberpunk 2077. Who can blame them? Everyone got out of the cyber beast.

We have considered Path Of Exile as one of the best RPGs on PC and one of the best free PC games. If, like me, you get the occasional hankering for an action RPG to sink into, you might want to give it a try – but I’ll be waiting for Path Of Exile 2, which we last heard was going into beta sometime this year. .
