- OnePlus has announced a release schedule and qualified phones for Oxygen OS 11.
- The Android 11-based open beta update will reach OnePlus Nord this week.
- The company will also update OnePlus 6 and all later models with the latest software.
Over the weekend, OnePlus released a forum post about when it plans to release the latest Oxygen OS 11 update for the phones. The Android 11-based software is currently available on the OnePlus 8T and OnePlus 8 series, and according to the company, it will soon roll out to existing and older phones – in this case OnePlus 6 and later models.
The first in line to receive Oxygen OS 11 this month will be OnePlus Nord. The phone was updated to Oxygen OS 10.5.10 last week, and OnePlus says it will launch the first Android 11 open beta build for it once a week. There is still no timeline for when the stable release will follow, but the company says it will perform incremental rollouts after collecting feedback from beta users.
Many OnePlus 7 and 7T users have also been eagerly awaiting the Android 11 update. OnePlus previously confirmed to Android authority that it would come on the phones before the end of 2020. However, the company now says that it experienced a data encryption problem while porting the update to the phones. That said, it has been working with Qualcomm to resolve the issue and expects to release the first Oxygen OS 11 open beta for the OnePlus 7 and 7T series shortly after completing ongoing closed beta testing.
As for the OnePlus 6, Oxygen OS 11 will be the third major Android update. The phone was released with Android 8.1 Oreo pre-installed and should only receive two major updates, so it’s nice to see that OnePlus gives users an extra there.
OnePlus 6T, on the other hand, came with Android Pie out of the box and was thus already in line to get Android 11. Finally, OnePlus Nord N10 and N100 are also in the queue to receive the software. The phone manufacturer says that it will share more information about the update plan for these phones at a later date.
