OnePlus’ first smartwatch promises a two-week battery and fast charging

After months of teasing, OnePlus is ready to unveil its first smartwatch. In addition to showcasing the flagships OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, the company gave us a look at the simply named Watch. It costs $ 159, runs OnePlus’ own operating system and will offer more than 110 training modes in addition to seeing your phone’s alerts and messages. But the most interesting feature is the charging speed. OnePlus uses Warp Charge technology on the laptop and promises to give you a full day of juice in five minutes.

It is faster than most current smartwatches, as it takes a long time to charge. For light use, OnePlus estimates that you will be able to get two weeks off the clock, while heavy use reduces that driving time to seven days. Thanks to the 5 watt charging speed, you can get a week̵

7;s energy in 20 minutes.

With that kind of estimated battery life, the OnePlus Watch falls more into fitness-weary territory (like the Fitbits and Garmin watches) than the multifunction smartwatch (like the Apple Watch or Wear OS devices). The operating system is not something we have seen or tested, so we can not tell how powerful it is yet. But in addition to the training modes, the watch also offers more than 50 customizable watches and will do basic things such as show you the weather and call.

Like many modern exercise equipment, the watch can monitor the oxygen saturation in the blood, guide you through breathing exercises, alert you to abnormal heart rate and automatically detect when you have started running or jogging. The built-in GPS also allows you to map your routes without the phone.

It’s also syncing with a new OnePlus Health app that will be available on Android by the end of March, and the company said they will also sync data with Google Fit and other services. Currently, Watch only works on Android, and OnePlus said that iOS support will come in a future update. Another update that comes down the line is the ability to use the Watch to control the OnePlus TV.

The watch itself has a round, slightly curved 1.39-inch AMOLED screen in a 46 mm stainless steel case. It is relatively large, considering that most smartwatches start with 38 mm or 40 mm models, and so far OnePlus does not offer other sizes. The company said the face is made of “specially treated sapphire crystal, with a Mohs rating of 9, for improved brightness and exceptional scratch resistance.” It is also classified as IP68 for dust and water resistance as well as 5ATM water pressure.

While there are Moon Light Silver and a “limited edition” Cobalt Alloy color variants available in different regions, those in North America will only be able to buy the Midnight Black version. OnePlus Watch goes on sale on April 14 on the company’s website, and for $ 159 it offers a compelling feature set for the price.
