We’re really looking forward to seeing the OnePlus 9 when it’s unveiled around March or April, but it looks like someone has already gotten an early prototype – and actually tried to sell it on eBay.
As Android Central reports, the listing has since been withdrawn, but the seller asked for a cool $ 3000 (approximately £ 2,240 / AU $ 3,950) for the handset. We do not expect the OnePlus 9 to be quite as expensive when it is shown.
According to the listing, this is the same prototype that we have already seen leaked pictures of, with the special logo on the back that OnePlus uses for the prototypes. A 6.6-inch screen, 8 GB of RAM, 1
We’ve heard some of these specs before, from the same source – it seems that the prototype that has escaped the clutches of the OnePlus, gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect from the next flagship phone in this series.
What to expect
The Snapdragon 888 processor will be re-checked in this eBay listing, the next-generation Qualcomm chipset that we expect to power many of the high-end Android smartphones by 2021.
We have also heard from separate sources inside that the OnePlus 9 comes with faster charging, faster wireless charging and a larger battery compared to what came on board the OnePlus 8.
There is talk that OnePlus will be launched in March 2021, which will be a bit of a surprise considering that OnePlus 8 appeared in April 2020. Unveiling phones earlier than usual seems to be a trend that we will see next year.
One detail that we have not heard any rumors about yet is price, but expect the OnePlus 9 and Pro variant to be relatively affordable. It is likely that we will also see a less expensive Lite version of the phone appear at some point.
