A number of OnePlus 9 Pro owners say they receive persistent warnings about overheating, often using the camera app. Android Police discovered the growing number of reports, many of which are gathered in a thread on OnePlus’ support forum and often mention the use of the camera app in connection with the warnings. OnePlus tells The Verge this is a known issue and that a solution will come via software updates “within the next few weeks.”
Some 9 Pro owners who report the problem say that the warning is displayed even with easy use of the phone’s still images or video recording options, and in some cases the phone will prohibit any more taking pictures until it cools down. Others mention the problem that occurs around or just after the initial setup. We did not encounter the problem while testing the OnePlus 9 Pro for our review, nor have we seen it show up with use since then.
OnePlus thought a lot about heat dissipation in the 9 Pro design, which is a particularly important consideration for the phone̵
Although it seems that the phone is well equipped to deal with heat on the hardware side, users’ description of the problem and the answer from OnePlus indicates that something may be wrong on the software side. Until that solution arrives, the company encourages 9 pro owners who have trouble submitting an error report through the forums.
