Note 9 "Loss": What Samsung keeps back to the Galaxy S10

On a press release in New York on Thursday, Samsung revealed its new Galaxy Home smart home speaker, a Galaxy Watch wearable and high-end Note 9 ] phone . With incremental updates like a Bluetooth enabled S Pen stylus a higher capacity battery and a slightly larger screen, Not 9 does not accurately deliver new technology for destruction in the mobile room.

As said, Samsung can save many goodies for its next flagship phone in 201

9 (yes, we think so far forward), which is expected to be called Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus .

Samsung, Here's What The Note 9 Needs

2:45

In addition to the predictable advances we expect to see next year (like running the last Android 9.0 Pie OS out of the box, you have the next Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm and improved camera features in general), we have compiled a list of features that we did not get in Note 9 features that we hope Samsung can only hold on to the next Galaxy S10 round.

Fingerprint Reader On Screen

Note The 9 fingerprint reader is now located under the rear cameras. This is a noticeable improvement from note 8 that had the sensor right next to the camera lenses. While greasy fingerprints are less likely to stain the camera with this new location, an even better placement for the reader will be within or below the display.

Cold Fingerprint On Display, or FOD, we have already seen this technology in Vivo X20 Plus UD and Vivo Nex . Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS announced in March, it also has. We expect the feature to roll out in many more phones in the near future, with a report from IHS Markit, which predicts that it will be available on 100 million phones by 2019 .

With 9-inch expansive 6.4-inch screen, the phone definitely had room for it. Unfortunately, this is a trend waiting in the wings, so we may have to wait for FPS in the Galaxy S10 .

5G Preparedness

Known as 5G soon approaches the next generation of high-speed cellular technology, with broad US availability expected once in 2019 by 2020. US carriers like Verizon and AT & T already create 5G networks and devices, while China is leading the leader by building 350,000 new mobile phone tower since 2015.

Many telephone builders already have ] announced its commitment to make 5G phones next year, including Samsung. And last week, Motorola showed its first 5G phone Moto Z3 which connects to the network with a connected Moto Mod accessory.

Because Note 9 does not have 5G connectivity, we expect the Galaxy S10 to be part of this early 5G wave of phones. Especially since Samsung puts more than $ 22 billion against technology (along with AI, biopharmaceutical products and other measures).

3D Forward Cameras

Note 9 combines iris and face scanning to unlock the home screen, but it's not exactly the same as a secondary 3D mapping front-facing camera. Employed by Apple iPhone X this particular setup uses an infrared camera, depth sensor, and point projector to map 30,000 points on your face and create an artificial 3D scan.

Samsung, please fix this.

Scott Stein / CNET

It's a faster and safer way to recognize your face on something many phones do but do not use the same method), which means that Apple can use its system for digital payments and smoother animated emojis (compared with Samsung's freaky AR emojis anyway).

True, if Samsung were to implement this on the Galaxy S10, it would be to copy Apple. But have we not already resigned to the fact that all telephone companies are copying each other today? In addition, Android manufacturer Xiaomi already jumped on the infrared mapping technology bandwagon with its Mi 8 Explorer Edition . It's just a matter of time for Samsung to join in the noise too.

A remappable Bixby button

With note 9, Samsung still makes its digital voice and search assistant Bixby extra available by adding a physical quick launch button on the edge. Unfortunately, just like the Galaxy S9 and iterations before it, you can not surround this button to open anything else. All it takes is just to start Bixby and Bixby.

With the handful apps and guides available online ( including CNET's own !) As teachers learn a solution for reprogramming the button, hopefully Samsung will soon get people that want more options when this button applies. Especially since it's physically easy to hit by accident, resulting in many unwanted Bixby launches throughout the day.
