Ninja, Twitch's Top Streamer, Made $ 10 Million in 2018

Fortnite has increased the value of the creator Epic Games with a staggering amount. But the mega-popular video game has also turned some of the players into mega millionaires.

Richard Tyler Blevins, better known as Ninja among the fans of the game, says he played nearly $ 10 million in 2018 playing Fortnite . And he might well be ready to be top this year.

Ninja is, hands down, the most popular Fortnite streams on Twitch and YouTube. He has become a cultural phenomenon in the gaming world, with a stream last year that gathered 667,000 viewers. (His YouTube channel has over 20 million subscribers.)

For many, the numbers do not mean much. Think about it this way, though. About 1

2.5 million Twitch users follow the Ninja on the gaming streaming site, tuning in when he plays online (which is often). About 40,000 of them pay to do so, paying between $ 5 and $ 25 per month.

Over on YouTube, he meanwhile earns a percentage of each ad that is aired under his videos. These video views last year ranged from 3 million to 38 million. It quickly settles.

Beyond that, companies like Samsung, Uber Eats and Red Bull sponsor ninja are paying to be associated with him.

Some may argue that playing video games does not count as work, but ninja points out that he played more than 4,000 hours with Fortnite last year. It is equivalent to a 15-plus-hour working day five days a week.

Fortnite fever is still strong. The game that crossed the billion dollar threshold in July 2018. Last year, too, Epic announced that it would provide $ 100 million to find prize money for the game's first year of competitive play. This figure was four times larger than any e-sports tournament ever offered. And over the Thanksgiving weekend, it launched a $ 1 million qualifying event for an upcoming World Cup match Fortnite tournament.
