Nearly five years after the launch of Pokémon Go, Niantic announced on Monday that they are partnering with Nintendo to develop a new title based on the company’s Pikmin franchise.
Niantic says that the app will be developed at their office in Tokyo and will be launched later this year.
“The app will include gaming activities to encourage walking and make walking more enjoyable,” Niantic said in a press release. The company specifically specifies that the title will use their augmented reality platform to integrate the real world into the app’s experiences.
Pokémon Go has fallen out of the headlines, but has continued to deliver huge sums to the San Francisco gaming company, and has sold revenue of $ 1
Niantic has raised nearly $ 500 million in capital, most recently valued at $ 4 billion.
