PlayStation has released the first game trailer for Spelunky 2, the sequel to one of the best indie platform games all the time. The trailer was added together with an interview with the creator of the original Spelunky, Derek Yu, who revealed additional insights into the sequel.
"Since Spelunky 1 has been released, many beautiful roguelike-inspired games have emerged and pushed genre in cool new directions, but I think Spelunky is still very unique in terms of freedom it gives the player and the way different elements affect where one event can trigger a cascade with consequences that must be handled, "says Yu." In the core, Spelunky 2 is no different [from the first game]. My point of succession is that they are extensions of previous games, so I want the Spillunky 1
Yu later explains that Spelunky 2 is not a mirror image of the original and has some differences. The most remarkable change is the addition of a second layer to each level. You can jump between each layer and use it once again as one shortcut to the other. Yu feels that this adds a "third dimension" to the 2D game. "And then it's all expected new areas, objects, monsters and traps," added Yu. "That's really a lot." Spillunky 2 player only shows PS4 as a platform for the game, but the game also comes to PC. The original Spillunky released on PC before it came to Xbox 360, PS3, PSVita and PS4.
Spelunky 2 is scheduled for 2019 .
