Nintendo has released a new trailer for Metroid Dread. The trailer was released together with Metroid Dread Report Vol. 5, which describes what abilities Samus will have at his disposal in the upcoming game, at the same time as he teases that a new report and trailer is on the way.
“[The next report will shed] light on new mysteries revealed in an upcoming game trailer, “Nintendo writes in the description of the video on YouTube.” Looking forward to the 27th of August. “
In the latest trailer, we see Samus fly towards her next mission, and learn that she is being sent as a backup solution to deal with the last of the X parasites, the villains in Metroid Fusion. Surprisingly, we also get some voice acting here – outside of the Metroid Prime trilogy and Metroid: Other M, the Metroid series relies on written text to deliver dialogue.
The second half of the trailer seems to take place sometime much later. Samus has replaced her standard Varia suit with the light blue that she apparently wants to wear for most of Metroid Dread.
In July, Nintendo revealed that this new suit is actually the blue suit Samus is wearing in Metroid Fusion. “In Metroid Dread, it seems that Samus’ costume has changed quite a bit from her previous quest,” Nintendo writes. “This is the result of the organic suit from Metroid Fusion – which was greatly transformed after the attack of the X-parasite life form and injection of the Metroid vaccine – gradually returned to its original, mechanical Power Suit form.”
Metroid Dread is scheduled to be launched for Switch on October 8.
