Apple's biggest launch of the year is behind us now, as the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are available in dozens of markets around the world. Of course, the world's largest consumer technology agency still has much more in stock for us this year. The release of the third next generation iPhone model by 2018 is obviously still ahead of us, with iPhone XR orders to be opened next week before a 26th of October release. But there are several new Apple products that will be released this year, which have not even been announced yet.
That's right, Apple fans: There's an Apple event in the store for us before the 2018 holiday season. It is expected to take place sometime in the next two weeks, and Apple has a lot in stock for us. New accessories like next-generation AirPods and a new Apple pencil are reputed to be debut during the event, and we'll probably see some updates on the Mac line as well. The stars on the show will probably be Apple's new iPad Pro tablets, and now a new leak has shown us Apple's full-fledged design in advance.
Over the years, Apple's iPad series has become less and less exciting. iPads are still the best all-around tablets the money can buy, but the category itself has been steadily fading from consumer radar. Smartphone screens are getting bigger and bigger each year, and full-blown laptops like Chromebooks have become more compact and affordable than ever. As a result, fewer people buy tablets these days than they were only a few years ago.
Of course, "fewer" are relative. Thousands of millions of tablets are still sold every quarter, and iPads make up a large proportion of these sales. If you are in the market for a new high-end iPad right now though, you should definitely stop pulling the trigger. Apple has long been rumored to plan a revolution of its iPad Pro Series in 201
The image above was posted to Slashleaks by a user called "Leakspinner" which has a decent track record with accuracy. It apparently shows 3D CAD files from a factory in China that describes the next generation iPad Pros designs and dimensions.
While Apple's current iPad Pro Tablets have a design that looks like a large flat iPhone, Apple's upcoming new models appear to have a new design coming from Apple's current iPhones. The screen will not have a notch, of course, since there is still plenty of space around the edges of the screen to hide the TrueDepth camera system that will give Face ID to Apple's new iPads. But beyond that, the new iPad Pro models seem to have a new design with flat edges all around the circumference. Apple's iPhone XS and XR series have rounded edges. In fact, Apple has not released a flat-end mobile device since iPhone SE back in 2016.
The leaked images also show new screen dimensions that should not come as much of a surprise. Similar to Apple's new iPhones, the 2018 iPad Pro models will destroy the home button, allowing the monitors to take more space. According to these leaked pictures, the smaller iPad Pro will have a 11-inch display, up from 10.5 inches on last year's model. The larger iPad Pro is listed as a 13-inch screen, which would be a marginal increase of 12.9 inches on the current model. Both iPads appear to be less than 6mm thick.
If everything goes according to plan, Apple will send invitations to the press the next days for the event in October 2018. It is unclear how soon the new iPad Pro models will be released, although a launch is still ongoing could take place before the end of the month.
