<div _ngcontent-c16 = "" innerhtml = "

With a new week from Cupertino news, this week's Apple Loop contains all the news from the Apple launch, the launch of the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR, practical reviews of the new iPhones, the amazing Apple Watch 4, this missing MacBook and iPads, changes to Apple's battery program, and why Tim Cook can not keep a secret.

Apple Loop is here to remind you of some of the many discussions which has happened around Apple in the last seven days ( and you can read my weekly digestion of Android news here at Forbes ).

The new Apple iPhone Xs (L) and iPhone Xs Max (R) appearing during a special Apple event at the Steve Jobs Theater. (19659001) launch event dominates Apple Loop this week, so let's get to the news and the first thoughts. First, the update of the iPhone X family, with revealing the 5.8 inch screened iPhone XS and 6 , 5 inch screened iPhone XS Max.

Echoing the design of last year's iPhone X (which has been removed from the main portfolio), the two models have the new A12 chips, FaceID, OLED monitors, and introduces the Dual SIM feature for the first time. Both sports-minded cameras and Apple were eager to showcase the software used to process the red images:

iPhone Xs continues to bring innovations to photography, things that are not possible before iPhone. Opportunities such as advanced depth segmentation using Neural Engine, Smart HDR that creates high dynamic area images and great image details, advanced bokeh quality in portrait mode and dynamic depth of field adjustable to the user in the Photos app are all major improvements in the state [19659006] More details from Apple's release notes .

Introducing iPhone XR

Also announced at Apple's event, the iPhone was one of the best photographic techniques that anyone can use. xr. This will be the "entry level" member of the iPhone X family, for sale at $ 749. The Sporting A12 chip, the same wide-angle camera as XS, and the use of FaceID to unlock and the motion controls that replace the home button mark it as " the future "to iPhone, although iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus devices that undoubtedly replace are still listed in Apple's portfolio. Pricing and Pre-order Details

Pre-orders for iPhone XS and XS Max opened today (Friday September 14th), with a release from September Friday 21st. September in the US – other territories may vary. Unlike last year, the more expensive handset is for sale first, and the cheaper iPhone XR will be open for ordering in the following month, with pre-orders starting Friday 19th. October and in the stores starting Friday, 26th. October.

While LCD display production is expected to be the practical reason for the XR delay, last year, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus saw sales on iPhone X, potentially depressing sales of the more expensive handset. This situation has been reversed this year.

Hands On With Technology

What can you expect from the phones? Forbes David Phelan was invited to The Steve Jobs Theater and was graciously allowed to touch one of the mythical new phones

:

The question of how big the iPhone Xs Max would feel was quickly answered: just fine. If you manage to handle iPhone 8 Plus, the iPhone Xs Max feels the same, but a bit more advanced thanks to the shiny stainless steel frame instead of the aluminum found on the 8 Plus. & Nbsp; The chin was less dominant Because the 6.5 inch screen is larger, the camera element is relatively smaller.

But, although it is the same physical size as the iPhone 8 Plus, the edge of the edge screen means that your fingers and thumbs have greater distances to travel than ever before.

But what does it all mean?

Reading the races to an Apple event used to be difficult. The launches were used to debut new ideas, courses and services. Now they are much more the same, phones with iterative updates, and Apple clearly stands out the pricing. This September's event? It is about resetting the definitions.

It may be the definition of what it means to be an edge, so you can sell a phone with an edge-to-edge screen that adheres to it, or it can redefine what a mid-range handset price is. I took on the former while Andrew Orlowski examined the latter :

Yesterday Apple closed its iPhone SE budget and unveiled new models that cost £ 1,500. Since relatively few people switch between platforms, Apple's growth is partly dependent on earning more money from people who already have an iPhone.

It not only means more phones with higher margins – but sells peripherals like AirPods and Watch, and upselling Apple services. The latter now generates almost and pound, 10 billion, and grows a third year of the year, which offsets stagnant hardware sales.

… iPhone revenues increase by 20 percent year on year, with a growth of just 1 percent ear. A quarter earlier we saw the X effect when ASP rose from $ 628 to $ 728.

The real story is Apple Watch [19659001] If you wanted any kind of technology wow moment at the Apple event, you would need to turn on your own wrist and launch of Apple Watch 4. A larger screen, higher speaker and enhanced mobile reception were all solid updates, but the real news was the inclusion of an FDA-approved ECG monitor. [n/a Nicole Nguyen reports :

Apple's latest touchscreen smartwatch also introduces embedded electrocardiogram function (ECG), which uses electrical signals for heart rate monitoring. It is the first counter-the-counter product that offers ECG to consumers.

The users open the app, put your finger on the watch's digital crown, and after 30 seconds you get heart rate classification. The app can classify characters of atrial fibrillation, which can be followed by a stroke.

Wanted: MacBook and iPad News

Yes, we saw the next iteration of iPhone, the life-saving benefits of the latest Apple Watch, and even a nod to HomePod (summary: it's not dead, please buy it). But what about the expected update to the iPad, MacBook and Mac series? Missing? Is loco going down in Acapulco? [N / a] Jeremy Horowitz has some ideas :

Apple has given a clue that you do not want any longer to wait. Back in August, it suddenly removed a tenth function called Group FaceTime from its iOS 12 and macOS Mojave betas, saying that it will be "sent in future software update later this fall." It's an atypical specific hint for Apple – and a perfect time to show how multiple users' faces, including Face ID-dependent Memoji, look at major iPad Pro and Mac monitors.

Get ready for another Apple media event – and new updates to update the iOS and MacOS points – shortly after the dust has cleared with the new iPhones and Apple Watches.

More expensive batteries melted

With all the new products that took up Apple's oxygen, it was a good day to talk some news about battery replacement costs. Apple increases prices on January 1, 2019 for replacement of warranty battery. Chris Welch has more .

Getting into your local Apple Store and getting a battery replacement for iPhone is quite cheap at the moment. Just 29 dollars. But when 2018 comes to an end, the temporary pricing – introduced in response to last year's strike competition that hit iPhones with aging batteries – will go away.

… Apple has updated its battery page with New Prices starting January 1st. In 2019, battery replacement agreements beyond warranty will cost:

And finally …

Why can not Apple keep a secret anymore? Anyone who has followed the chats on the Internet will get all iPhone announcements this week. From promotional shots that were discovered early, wrong with web server files, has Cupertino lost his touch of staying still? Chuck La Tournous examines :

In truth, Apple's secret was never as ironic as the legend suggests. "Luxo" iMac, G4 Cube, the infamous case of the lost / stolen iPhone 4.. . The list of products that was accidentally disclosed continues on and on. Nevertheless, these leaks were the most speculation based on information clips, fuzzy images of prototypes or product pages, and magazine indexes that went live a little too early.

Today's leaks are different. They are much more consistently accurate and come with reasonable regularity from trusted sources. Does it mean that Steve Jobs was better off driving a tight ship than Tim Cook? Probably not.
