Adds improved graphics, new capabilities and more.
Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, the stand-alone expansion style next part of Sega’s long-running free-to-play online action RPG series, will – after its beta last month – make its way to the Xbox and PC next Wednesday, June 9th.
Announced last summer, New Genesis is described as the “next generation” of Phantasy Star Online 2, and catapults the action forward 1
Along with the base game, it includes a new graphics engine, improved character models, a new multi-weapon system and, in particular, a “wide open battlefield” with changing time and weather, which can be run using new abilities such as Photon Dash and Photon Glide. There are also cross-platform games, plus fully localized text and character voices in English.
Previously explained Sega character creation and avatars would be compatible between Phantasy Star Online 2 and New Genesis, with the former weapons, devices and mags that could be used in New Genesis, while other data emotes, Star Gems and Arks Cash could be shared between both games. However, levels, EXP, skills, photon art, techniques and currency that affect the game economy cannot be transferred.
Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis will be available on Xbox and PC (via Steam, Microsoft Store and Epic Games Store) next Wednesday, June 9th.
