New Galaxy Smart Tag leak spills beans on object trackers design, features

It’s no secret that Samsung has been working on a tile-like smart object tracker. The company’s upcoming unit may be launched as soon as next month, and colors, features and pricing have already been leaked. A new leak has now appeared, and it shows a clearer design of the Galaxy Smart Tag.

A tutorial GIF taken from the recently released version of the SmartThings Find app shows the Galaxy Smart Tag in two colors: black and white (oatmeal). The rounded square unit has a circular button in the middle and a string hole towards the corner. You can press the button to find a connected smartphone, while the built-in buzzer can be activated from the smartphone to find the object tracker and the object to which it is attached.

Galaxy Smart Tag has Bluetooth 5.1

(with LE) and is compatible with SmartThings Find. It is rumored that it only costs € 15 and is powered by a replaceable 3V CR2032 coin cell. Many had hoped that it would have GPS or UWB. However, it does not look like Samsung has equipped the Galaxy Smart Tag with these features, which may be due to battery or price restrictions. Even Apple is working on a similar device.
