New Fortnite Update Patch Notes: Map, Line, Rift-to-Go, More

Epic Games has released a new update, v5.30, for Fortnite. Plasten has come on all platforms – PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Mobile – and it introduces new features to both the Battle Royale and Save the World modes, along with a selection of bug fixes and other enhancements. And with that living, we finally have Week 7 challenges. [ Update: In addition, another update – v5.30.1 – has been released to roll back the controversial controller with a view to changes mentioned below.]

On the Battle Royale page, Epic has introduced formerly bothered Rift-to-Go. As the name suggests, this Epic rarity element is a portable rift that you can use to creep into the air and slide back down. Rifts will last for 1

0 seconds when they have been activated, so other players will also have a short time window to jump into them.

The map has changed since Risky Reels is now the home of a fan movie you can see. More significantly, Tomatby has been replaced by the Tomatt Temple, where you find a big pyramid instead of the old restaurant. There are also apparent lightning strikes that occur around the map.

Epic has also tweaked a handful of other weapons in Battle Royale. Now, Clingers will only detonate when the timer is up, while the Double Barrel Shotgun spread is reduced by 15% when it fences. Epic also has some reduced equipment for Pump Shotgun and increased the maximum stack size of the Impulse Grenadene with one. In addition, changes in control sensitivity have been made which have proven to be problematic; Epic is now trying to roll them back. And in a more wonderful change, you can now thank the bus driver.

In addition to that, the latest update marks the start of a new limited time mode called Score Royale. This mode has scrambling players to be the first to exceed the specified high score and they will earn points by collecting coins, obtaining loot and eliminating other players. The storm circle at the start of the match is also greater than normal, while late game circles close faster.

On the Save the World page, Epic has added Bundle Bus Assault Rifle to the Weekly Store. This powerful new gun with a large magazine will only be available from 23rd to 23th. August. A new Horde Weekly Challenge is now available.

You will find full update notes for update 5.30 on Fortnite website. This week's batch of challenges appears a bit later than usual and rolls out Friday 24th. August, instead of on Thursday as they usually do. In the meantime, you can find guides for all the missions available in our full season 5 challenge guide.
