Hell one out for bad Cayde-6. "Destiny 2" fans have known for several months that developer Bungie kills the fan favorite character in the upcoming Forsaken extension. Now they can see the last game of pistols in a new movie trailer unveiled during Gamescom on Thursday.
When some of the "Destiny" universe's most notorious crimes flee from Elders prison, only the wisecracking hunter Cayde-6 is there to protect the city. He sets up a brave battle, even killing a creature with his horn (?) At some point. But, in the end, he fails. Released by actor Nathan Fillion in the first two games (Nolan North's apparent takeover of Forsaken), Cayde-6 brought a much needed levity to "Destiny's" self-serious tone.
In addition, Bungie and publisher Activision announced Thursday they offer a free trial of Forsak's new Gambit mode for all "Destiny 2" owners. Gambit is a hybrid 4v4 mode that merges player vs player and player-to-environment mechanics. Free trial version available from September 1
The expulsion expires on 4 September. Many details about it just leaked last week, thanks to a Reddit user called Ginsor, known for digging credible datamined information in the past. Among the leaks were the names of four new strikes – Warden of Nothing, The Hollowed Lair, The Corrupted, and The Bread Team. There is also information about the Gambit mode ranking system, called Infamy. As "Destiny's" PvP Crucible, players allow unlocking equipment and cosmetics while increasing rank. None of the leaks are confirmed, so take them with a salt grains.
