Just before Thanksgiving this year, Google updated named takers on Smart Displays so that they would be accompanied by a whimsical illustration of what to expect. Some Nest Hub timers today automatically get extra Christmas cheer.
As before, just specify a food in front of the “timer” or add it to the end of the Google Assistant command. You will hear a short cluster of sleigh bells when it is confirmed and the countdown starts.
These timers for the Christmas edition see different holiday foods and drinks accompanied by a gingerbread man looking out from the bottom of the Nest Hub. The cookie only closes the timer and the countdown.
Some more generic (but current) foods, such as potatoes and hot cocoa, also automatically receive this treatment. It̵
From the different jingle (gobbling) to the final food spray, these themes are different from the Thanksgiving edition. If you set a turkey timer, you will still get the previous version. It would be nice for Google to keep adding more year round.
Meanwhile, the different generics for different food categories (pizza, pasta, chicken, coffee / tea) are still available. They greatly help to look at and manage multitimers.
