Mozilla Firefox rebranding, not just with a new logo for the popular browser, but with 24 possible icons for all its components.
The Mozilla Firefox browser has seen its fair share of improvements recently, including the introduction of the sidebar feature rolled out last month, followed by rumors that the team behind the software is working on a browser that can be controlled with voice commands. However, Mozilla Firefox rebranding extends far beyond that.
Mozilla Launches Firefox Rebranding
In an official blog post, Mozilla admits that the Firefox brand often takes into account the browser. But Firefox is now more than surfing the web, so Mozilla believes that its brand will now develop.
Mozilla has grown the Firefox brand to include not only the regular browser and the Firefox Quantum browser. It now also includes a range of Internet products, such as simple screenshots, file sharing, the Firefox Focus Browser and the Firefox Reality VR browser.
In its blog post, Mozilla shared two design systems approaches to the new Firefox branding. Mozilla made it clear that there is no crowdsourcing for which icons it will use without voting, and no one will be forced to design logos for free. The company is simply reaching out to users to listen to feedback.
The two design systems consist of a Firefox master fire icon, general purpose icons, individually focused browser icons, and new icons for apps and services. Mozilla still works with aspects like graphical patterns and typography, all of which come together to complete Mozilla Firefox rebranding.
The masterbrand icon is one of the finest points in the discussion: should Mozilla focus on a shape similar to the face of a reef, or should it hold the halftone of the iconic reef?
It is unclear when Mozilla Firefox rebranding will officially start, as the icons shown in the two design systems are not final. But one thing is for sure: the Firefox brand changes for the better.
Google Vs Mozilla
Mozilla has recently found out in controversy when program director Chris Peterson called out Google to turn YouTube off on all other browsers aside from their own Chrome.
Visiting YouTube using other browsers is a slow experience and it will also cause annoying popups to download Chrome. If users continue to install Chrome and access YouTube through it, they find that YouTube loads faster.
Fortunately, there is a solution for Firefox users. The slowdown of Google can bypass by downloading the YouTube Classic extension, which will force the video sharing website to load properly.
