“You thought the gamecube keyboard was a joke,” HolyChipmunk recently wrote on Keyboard subreddit in a post that shares their project it was first discovered by PCGamesN. Inspired by another mudder is built a few years ago HolyChipmunk drilled some of the controller’s original plastic to accommodate the new higher quality aluminum plate and Preonic PCB. - Keycaps: DSA Vilebloom
HolyChipmunk went a step further and replaced the GameCube controller’s existing pins and buttons with custom ones that perfectly match the Vilebloom color scheme. Best of all, it all works. HolyChipmunk demoed switch from printing messages to playing Super Smash Bros. Melee in a video on YouTube:
The battle between game controls and keyboards hwhich has been led by people with too much time on their hands for years now, but the solution has been right in front of us all along. Many PC games now support different controllers, and many console games now support the use of a mouse and keyboard. But why choose when you can get the best of both worlds in super luxury, decades old GameCube controls.
Bring back ASCII keyboard controller. Bring back Xbox chatpad. Give Switch Pro a sleek keyboard Joy-Con attachment and bless it with colorful keyboard covers. Everything that should make the interface with the internet hive mind feels a little more whimsical.
