As detected by Windows United, Microsoft has recognized a firmware issue that causes display problems on its Surface Pro 4 devices, which apparently appeared during the summer. Multiple threads on the Microsoft Support Forum point to ink and touch issues, as a direct result of Juli's firmware update for the 2-in-1 series.
The firmware update created driver issues specifically related to Surface ME, Surface Embedded Controller firmware, and Surface UEFI, each showing a "driver code error" (code 10). If you were affected by a firmware issue, Microsoft allows a replacement via the Surface Support website by talking to a staff member and describing the above driver issues. Although further details about exactly what caused the error remains unclear.
