It’s funny how secrets about certain classic games keep popping up years after they’re released. Halo: Combat Evolved is one of those games, and today veteran designer and Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto decided to share some of the unused weapons from the original Halo.
By sharing the assets via a video on Twitter, Lehto states that these assets were found when he went through an old PC construction of the game from 2000. The weapons are prototypes of Covenant weapons, and include a concussion pistol, excavator, particle jet rifle and a microwave oven. .
I found these Covenant weapon prototypes in my old Halo PC model from 2000 that you might like.

As you can see in the video, the different weapons on offer would have added even more versatility to Master Chief’s debut excursion, but then Halo: Combat Evolved was not exactly hungry for weapon choice. Lehto clearly has his favorites here, as he shares in his tweet that he likes “the meter cooled on the concussion gun”, while he thinks that “the microwave would have been fun”.
It’s been a long journey for Master Chief since the release of the original Halo game 20 years ago, but we’ll finally see what’s next for Chief when Halo Infinite launches later this year. To stay up to date with all things Halo, stay tuned to IGN.
