To usher in the Black Panthers’ arrival on August 16, Marvel’s Avengers has a free trial weekend on Steam, PlayStation and Stadia. It started on July 29 and ends later today, August 1, and sent interest in the action game on PC.
Looking at SteamDB (thanks, TheGamer), the average for the game is usually just a few hundred concurrent users at a time, but the freeplay event has set a 24-hour peak of 10,161 players – with 10,121 online right now at the time of writing .
It does not quite reach the heights of the launch period – Marvel’s Avengers reached a peak of almost 32,000 Steam players when it was released in September last year ̵
As Matt explained earlier this week, on top of 40 percent of the game throughout the free-to-play event – and set the price at around £ 18 on Steam and £ 27 on consoles (Xbox is included here, although there is no freeplay event for Xbox players yet) – Square also offers a 400 percent experience bonus for players over the weekend, and a 50 percent discount sale for the in-game Marketplace.
ICYMI, the team recently revealed that “every object we can interact with in Marvel’s Avengers ‘War of Wakanda update” will have its own look in the War for Wakanda expansion, including new chests and Wall Run platforms, showcasing the games’ verticality “also.
