Logitech buys a microphone company to increase the range of devices in the portfolio.
Computer accessories maker said on Monday that it would buy Blue Microphones for about $ 1
"Logitech's acquisition of Blue Microphones will accelerate the entrance to a growing market, and provide another way for us to help bring people's passions (from music to blogging) alive," Logitech CEO Bracken Darrell said in a blog post. "Join Blue is an adjacent opportunity for us – a new way of growing – with more synergies associated with our existing games, PC webcams and audio categories."
Blue microphones make studio quality microphones that are popular for podcasts and YouTube channels. The most famous products are Yeti and Snowball lines in microphones. In his blog post that announced the acquisition, Blue also said that it developed new products.
Neither Logitech nor Blue responded immediately to a request for further comment.
