We have seen enough of the new Toyota Supra already, but mostly in the form of camouflage prototypes, racing car versions and some cryptic teasers showing a mirror hood and front of the hood. Now Toyota has released a video showing the whole car, but unclear to keep some of the mystery alive before the big debut next month. In addition, we will hear the sound of that engine.
Supras BMW-manufactured 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine sounds quite impressive in this video. We do not know how much power it will do, but Toyota says the car will hit 60 km / h in "less than 5 seconds." As we mentioned in our prototype review, this estimate is probably conservative, and we think it will actually be closer to 4.5 seconds.
Two-seater shares a platform with the BMW Z4, which debuted in August on Pebble Beach. Supreme Engineer Tetsuya Tada promises that the new car will have a perfect 50:50 weight balance at the front to the back and double the body rigidity of the Toyota 86. A hybrid variant is expected at some point and we are interested in seeing how that version will sound too.
2020 Toyota Supra will make its official debut at the Detroit car show in January. Production will begin once in the first half.
