In January, Ming Chi Kuo thrilled fans of Apple’s pro laptops with news that the MacBook Pro 2021 would have a new design, Apple Silicon, and the return of MagSafe and more IO ports.
The analyst has followed up the report today to be a little more specific: he expects Apple’s 2021 MacBook Pro models to have an HDMI port and an SD card slot. As a reminder, the current 16-inch MacBook Pro only has Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports and a headphone jack for connectivity.
When Apple launched the new MacBook Pro style with the 2016 revision, the idea was that offering four Thunderbolt USB-C ports would be sufficient for everyone. It is still unclear what the complete lineup of IOs on the new MacBook Pros will be. It does not seem likely that Apple will add two ports in addition to the four USB-C ports, but Kuo does not describe the exact crash. Also keep in mind that these laptops are also expected to have a MagSafe port for charging.

The new MacBook Pro series is expected to launch this fall. The machines are expected not only due to the changes in the form factor, but also the customers will be able to experience how well Apple silicon performs in advanced CPU and GPU products.
