Koei Tecmo’s official websites are temporarily closed after the European branch was hit by a cyber attack.
In a press release issued on December 29, Koei Tecmo confirmed forum login information for around 65,000 accounts had been leaked. This includes account name, password (in encrypted state) and email addresses. Fortunately, it appears that no credit card details, customer or employee information have been stolen.
If you navigate to the US or European Koei Tecmo websites, you will receive the following message:
“Due to the possibility of an external cyber attack on this site, it will be temporarily closed while we investigate the issue.”;
Anyone with a Koei Tecmo account is advised to update their password as soon as possible.
This latest cyber attack follows a huge Capcom leak last month, which saw around 1 TB of sensitive data allegedly stolen and apparently revealed many of the company’s upcoming projects ahead of schedule.
Koei Tecmo last assisted with Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and will drop Atelier Ryza 2 on the switch early next year.
