Microsoft has acknowledged that two recent updates for Windows 10 are causing problems for users. People who have installed KB4598299 and KB4598301 report BSoDs as well as app crashes.

The two updates (released Windows 10 versions 1909, 2004, and 20H2) were supposed to fix issues in .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8, but they have ̵

Among the affected applications is Visual Studio, which causes headaches for developers. Other issues can be found in the Windows Presentation Foundation that affect different apps.

Writing in the Visual Studio forums in response to complaints from users, Microsoft indicated that the issue should be addressed soon. The company said:

A solution to this problem has been implemented internally and is being prepared for release. We will update you when it becomes available for download.

Currently, the only real solution is to uninstall KB4598299 or KB4598301 via the Settings app in Windows 10, although potential solutions have also been suggested in the Visual Studio forums.
