Smart luggage manufacturer Kabuto now sells a 95L suitcase with a magnetically attachable backpack which in itself can double in capacity from 9L to 18L. The hard shell trunk includes a TSA-approved fingerprint lock, removable battery to charge your gadgets and magnetic Fidlock mounts, just like those found on Kabuto Smart Carry-On bags launched on Kickstarter in 2019. Both bags will begin to finally sent in the summer when the vaccine-driven journey begins again.
The $ 629 Kabuto suitcase (early bird price) measures 72 x 36 x 37 cm (28 x 14 x 14.5 inches) and weighs 4.7 kg / 10.4 lb. It can be configured with a $ 29 30W 1
The fingerprint sensor can store up to 10 fingerprints, making it suitable for sharing with family or friends. Like the Carry-On, the boot fingerprint sensor has its own dedicated replaceable battery that will alert you when charging is low. However, you also get a set of thin backup keys that can be carried in a wallet or purse. Kabuto claims the sensor is fast. I tested the sensor on the Kabuto Carry-On in 2019, and it is already very fast – similar to what you expect to unlock a modern smartphone. It is also quick to assign fingerprints, although you will probably need to learn the steps if you ever share the bag, as it is not completely intuitive.
The $ 299 (early price) Kabuto backpack includes a USB-C hub on the side. It doubles in capacity with the help of hidden magnets that gradually expand the sides of the bag as the pressure builds up. And like the pocket, it clicks on the Kabuto Trunk using a magnetic Fidlock mechanism that Kabuto says can hold safely up to 10 kg / 22 lb. The trunk remains upright using four “tires” that Kabuto claims are “the quietest wheels ever.” The backpack is available in silver, blue, gray and nude beige.
The trunk / backpack combination is available for $ 929 via early bird rates. Kabuto bags are covered by a lifetime warranty and are expected to begin shipping in September on the back end of Hot Vax Summer, just like the world hopefully emerges from our collective travel funk.
