Best Answer: Unfortunately, there is no LTE option for Surface Laptop 2, or for the predecessor. If you want a Surface PC with LTE, last year's Surface Pro is your best bet. If you are not sold on the surface, the HP ENVY x3 is also a great LTE-friendly option.
Why not LTE?
The primary reason why LTE is not due to the form factor of Laptop 2. To fit an LTE modem into the chassis, sufficient space must be allocated within the PC. Discard any complications that arise by baking in antenna arrays, metal cabinet disturbances, finding a trace for the SIM tray, and beyond, and Laptop 2 just does not work well to include LTE connection at the moment. At least for now there is no possibility for a LTE Surface Laptop without a significant hardware revision and considering how the incremental update to laptop 2 was, I'd say it's reasonable to assume that laptop 3 will be a major update. Fortunately, there are a few alternatives with LTE worth considering.
Surface Pro (2017) has an LTE version
Surface Laptop 2 does not have LTE but if you want a slim Windows PC with LTE connection and you're dedicated to the Surface brand, 2017's Surface Pro still on the market. You still get a great laptop with lifetime all day, a beautiful display and enhanced Surface Pen integration. Plus, you get all the benefits of the Surface brand, namely 2-in-1 module design, in a small package.
For the ultimate in Windows portability, consider HP Envy x2. Running on ARM, HP Envy x2 is designed for long periods of power outage, and indeed Wi-Fi, due to its LTE connection. You can get around 22 hours of battery life out of this thing, complete with a keyboard cover and pen, making it ideal for ink on the go.
