The $ 1000 phone can not be so shocking this year as it was when Apple first broke the barrier with 2017's iPhone X, but the amount you're asked to cough up for a premium handset is barely chump change. The recently announced iPhone XS and August's Galaxy Note 9 both start on a large one, and the higher storage models go up from there. (See charts below for international pricing.)
So what are these phones to justify the $ 1000 price tag? And which is the better purchase? Although we can not say for sure before we've tested iPhone X's new features side by side with Galaxy Note 9, we have a great idea of what they offer and how they compete for your love ̵
1; and your money.
And remember, both of these phones have smaller and cheaper colleagues. The iPhone XR is a slightly stripped down version of the iPhone XS and starts at $ 750. Samsung's Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are mainly Note 9s minus S Pen, some of the camera features and the massive storage space and battery. The Galaxy S9 starts at $ 720 (varies from carrier).

Note 9 has bigger OLED screen
iPhone XS and even bigger iPhone XS Max is Apple's second and third phones for use and OLED display (iPhone XR sticks with an LCD monitor). OLED technology delivers vibrant contrast and color, giving phones that use the display some premium cache.
Samsung gives you more screen for your money: A curved 6.4-inch screen instead of the iPhone XS 5.8-inch screen. If you want more iPhone, you need to upgrade to iPhone XS Max, which has 6.5-inch OLED goodness, and a higher starting price.
Camera of the camera is in the air
This will be an important test. The iPhone XS camera looks the same as iPhone X on paper but Apple says it has improved the phone's dual 12 megapixel software smarts that automatically fix red-eye and pump up shadows and details for enhanced HDR as Apple calls Smart HDR http://www.cnet.com/ ” height=”109″ width=”194″/>

iPhone XS Max vs Galaxy Note 9: What's the difference?
Apple has also added more portrait lighting effects on the iPhone XS, claiming to give greater portrait self-esteem greater depth. There is also a new slider adjustment that lets you edit the amount of blur you add to a Bokeh selfie after it's taken. Samsung has had a similar feature over the last two years.
Firstly, Note 9's dual 12 megapixel camera layout has an automatic scene recognition tool that uses AI to automatically select the "best" settings for your photos. The main camera's dual aperture changes automatically to give you better, brighter light with low light, but the nature of the technology means that if the subjects move, the image may become blurred.
Note 9 has supermotive video and slow motion (the latter is higher quality), while the iPhone XS only has slow motion video – this is a minor feature for most.
In our photo comparison with iPhone X, Note 9's low slides were lighter, the self-shrinking shots and the pictures more in a shutterbug's control of Pro Mode. Note 9s S Pen also serves as remote control for group images and selfies, from up to 30 meters away. (You can do this with iPhone EarPods that come into the box as far as the cable extends.)
However, Apple's small adjustments to image processing algorithms can make all the difference, especially in the low slides.
Processor Advantage goes to iPhone XS
Apple's new A12 Bionic chip promises some serious competition against the Galaxy Note 9's Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. The chipset is the workhorse of the phone. Developed by multiple processors – including CPU, GPU for graphics and copy processors, such as the image signal processor for photography – it handles everything from loading apps and ongoing daily tasks, image editing and efficiency.
Things get technical Fast, but the overview is that Apple promises apps load up to 30 percent faster than they did on iPhone X and that the entire phone gets 15 percent faster. It's getting more battery-saving, "said Apple, playing resource-heavy games smoother and helping the best with the Smart HDR feature mentioned above.

A faster processor can also make Face ID work faster, making Apple's new Memoji avatars track your real-time facial expressions and reduce storage in AR environments.
A technical feature is that Apple's new A12 chip uses a 7-nanometer production process, which contributes to efficiency and reduces space inside the phone to accommodate other items, such as a larger battery.
Meanwhile, Snapdragon 845 processor has performed very well in the laboratory and in real time tests. Qualcomm's phones in 2019 will use a chip made with the same 7nm process and will also be ready to support 5G data connectivity speeds, as Apple never mentioned in the presentation.
Battery life can lean on Note 9.
The prerequisite of iPhones battery life from specifications has always been difficult because Apple does not share battery power figures like the rest of the industry. Instead, Apple told us that the iPhone XS is expected to last 30 minutes a day longer than iPhone X did. The phone's battery life lasted about 11.5 hours, one working day, in CNET's looping video battery operation test . But it was impossible to impress us with his lifetime. 30 minutes longer a day will not break a smile at the end.
Galaxy Note 9, meanwhile, is continued from early morning to late night on a single charge, which lasts over 19 hours on a single charge in our drainage tests. Samsung's 4000mAh battery has the advantage this round.
Storage is much cheaper on note 9
For $ 1000, you get 64GB of iPhone XS storage and 128GB of storage on Galaxy Note 9. There's double space for photos and videos on Samsung's phone. For more storage, you need to jump up one level to the 256GB iPhone XS model for $ 1,149.
For 512 GB of internal storage, Galaxy Note 9 costs $ 1200. IPhone XS: $ 1,349, which is $ 100 more. Galaxy Note 9 also comes with a microSD card slot that takes up to 512 GB of external storage, which is a cheaper route to go.
Security Updates, Also Android vs. iOS 12
iPhones have always been top of security updates and software upgrades in general. Apple updates all the phones at the same time. For example, iPhones receive their iOS 12 upgrade on September 17th.
While Google also makes the software available for phones – we are now in Android Pie – note 9 comes with Android 8.1 Oreo. The phone will surely upgrade, but Samsung must first test Android Pie with its custom Samsung Experience software before obtaining approval to push the update from operators. So it takes some time.
Both Notat 9 and iPhone XS have wireless charging, an IP68 water resistance class and dual SIM options. But there are extras that make the phones worth their value.
Note 9 stands out with its Bluetooth-connected S Pen stylus, which now acts as a remote control for certain applications. You can safely unlock your phone with iris or finger, and Samsung Pay is a bonus service that works on registries where Google Pay and Apple Pay can not.
Samsung's Bixby Voice Assistant is aggressive and will not turn off: This is either an annoying irritation or a major disadvantage, depending on where you are standing.
At the same time, iPhone XS Face Unlock (without fingerprint copying) works seamlessly with the entire Apple ecosystem, from new Apple Watch 4 with improved health features for message synchronization on MacBook or MacBook Air.
Too late to say
While Galaxy Note 9 has advantages, but until we take both phones in full, we can not tell you which phone will give you "more". Some devices are worth more than the sum of the parts; some less. Apple fans will no doubt choose from one of the three new iPhones, otherwise an iPhone 8, 8 Plus or 7 .
But if you're on the fence, hold on to the administrator before we get a chance to dive.
