Is the iPhone X's steep price worth it?

The most obvious question you have to ask yourself when deciding on these two iPhones is how much you are willing to use. The iPhone X is more expensive than iPhone 8 with at least $ 300, £ 300 and AU $ 500 – and there's nothing to brush away.

iPhone X and iPhone 8 prices

iPhone X iPhone 8
USA $ 999 (64GB), $ 1,149 (256GB) $ 699 (64GB), $ 849 (256GB)
UK £ 999 (64GB), £ 1,149 (256GB) £ 699 (64GB), £ 849 (256GB)
Australia AU $ 1,579 (64GB), AU $ 1,829 (256GB) AU $ 1,079 (64GB), AU $ 1,329 (256GB)

Only you can decide if the additional cost is worth it, but to put it in perspective: For iPhone X you cheer up the money for a second back camera, a larger bezel-less display and the ability to unlock the phone with your face. Other than that, the intestines are essentially the same – including the same A11 Bionic processor. You also get wireless charging (if you have a wireless charge) and water resistance on both iPhones.

With the extra money you save to get iPhone 8, you can buy AppleCare + to expand your coverage if you destroy or destroy the iPhone screen, a pair of AirPods headphones ] and a silicone iPhone case for just over the same price. 19659025] iPhone Design and Face Mapping

With a design similar to previous iterations, iPhone 8 feels very familiar. Depending on your preference, it can either be comforting to you or out of date. Because of its smaller size, I find iPhone 8 easier to place in your pocket or purse, as well as holding and navigating with one hand. It also feels less fragile to me, though I wonder if it has anything to do with the iPhone Xs $ 1000 price tag that makes me afraid to release it. The iPhone 8 also has a taptic home button that you can easily tap to go home and double-click to call up newer apps.

iPhone X, meanwhile, is almost bezel-less and releases the Touch ID button at the bottom (instead integrates it's swiping moves for navigation). It has an OLED "Super Retina HD Display", which is Apple's marketing period to denote a sharper display and a higher pixel density.

But what's most polarized on the iPhone is the black notch that sits on top of its higher screen. Like hack houses interesting features like a depth-sensing front-facing camera for Face ID, digital payment authorization and the ability to map your face movements with animated emojis. But unlike other Android phones you can not hide it and it will always be there. Sometimes, like watching video, the chopper blocks some of the video.

With these considerations, think about how all of these factors will affect your overall user experience. If you carry the phone in your pocket a lot and find that a home button makes your iPhone more intuitive and easier to use, the iPhone 8 will be great. If you're gung-ho about adopting new things and do not mind the hackers (TBH, most of us used to it), iPhone X should work for you.

iPhone X Sport Two Rear Cameras

With its simple 12 megapixel rear camera, the iPhone 8 is not slim when it comes to taking vivid and crisp images. This is especially true in relation to the 2016s
iPhone 7
thanks to the improved sensor and image signal processor in the 8th century.

However, the iPhone Xs two-camera setup makes it the superior phone in this aspect. Even though one angling camera is exactly the same on iPhone 8, the second telephoto camera uses clear optical zoom and bokeh style portraits. Apple-loaded lighting tools allow you to fine tune to add more drama to your portraits. It also has optical image stabilization on both lenses. Finally, if you take a bunch of selfies, the iPhone X's camera in front of the camera also takes portrait photos, although the images do not look as slippery as portraits taken with the rear cameras. The iPhone 8 does not have this feature.

With all the elements in play, iPhone X captures a little more detail and
sharpness
to zoom in pictures, especially in low light. Also, when you shoot in-zoom video, iPhone X's dual-OIS setup is particularly favorable, as videos are noticeably more stable than digital zoom.

iPhone 8 battery lasts more surprisingly

Although you expect iPhone X to be the better performer in all of our tests, iPhone 8 actually has a longer battery life than iPhone X during battery-powered tests. For continuous video playback in flight mode, iPhone X lasted 11.5 hours while iPhone 8 lasted 13.5 hours. Depending on your needs, this difference can not be a lot of a deal breaker, but there is something to consider.

Takeaway

iPhone X remains objectively the best iPhone and you can get a lot of use (not to mention fun) out of its portrait mode camera, Animoji face tracking and elegant design. If you get iPhone X now, you will also prepare yourself with many features that future iPhones want. (Even though you remember that Apple will probably announce new iPhones in September.)

But if you want to ward off, use these features, not to mention saving $ 300, £ 300 and AU $ 500 while you're on it , get the iPhone 8. It's a reliable, intuitive iPhone that will be a no-brainer to use.
