Intel has cast a lot of shadow on Apple since the company started the transition to Apple Silicon chips with the first M1 Macs last fall. The latest series of “Go PC” ads even features former “I’m a Mac” star Justin Long mocking the new M1 Macs. In an ironic move, Intel is now using the MacBook Pro in a new ad to promote “The World’s Best Processor on a Thin, Lightweight Laptop” that is not found in any of Apple’s laptops.
Discovered by iThinkDifferent, the new Intel ad appears for someone on Reddit who is doing the 11th generation Tiger Lake Intel Core i7. It shows someone who seems to be playing, and it̵
Apple’s latest MacBook Pro with Intel processors was 13-inch with 10th generation Intel processors (and 16-inch 2019 has 9th generation Intel). And humorously, Apple’s M1 chip in the new 2020 MacBook Air, Pro and Mac mini surpasses the 11th generation Core i7, which Intel calls “the world’s best processor on a thin and light laptop.”
Another funny part of the ad is that the person appears to be wearing Apple Beats headphones.
After spending the first part of 2021 taking a shot at Apple, Intel’s new CEO Pat Gelsinger hardly called the effort “competitive fun”, while at the same time hoping to get Apple’s chip business back.
It is unclear whether Intel, which uses the MacBook Pro in this latest ad, is a major complaint or a kind of strange olive branch.
