In recent days, there have been some conflicting reports about when Samsung will announce the collapsible Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3. But now Ice Universe has given a clearer picture of the situation.
Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3 & Flip 3 may be announced in July
Tipster, who has given exact details about Samsung products and launches in the past, thinks it may not be until the summer, more specifically July, that we see the long-awaited Fold 3 and Flip 3. This timeline agrees perfectly with another recognized report. Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) recently said that folding screen shipments for Samsung’s next-generation devices are set to launch in May.
Samsung could start mass production of the Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 at about the same time before a launch in June or July, according to the timeline provided by Young.
If the brand chooses to start shipping to customers by the end of June, the next Unpacked event may take place in mid-June. Otherwise, an announcement is more likely in the second half of the month or even July.
Galaxy Z Fold 2
The Galaxy S21, for example, arrived a full month earlier than usual. And considering that the next Galaxy Z Fold would have been expected to debut in early August some other year, it’s important to reveal in June or July of 2021.
What will Fold 3 and Flip 3 offer?
When Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 finally hit the shelves, they will not be cheap. The current generation of units sells for $ 1,999 and $ 1,199 respectively and similar prices are expected for the 2021 models.
The good news is that more Affordable collapsible models are confirmed to be on the way, although exactly how much cheaper they will be and when they will be launched remains to be seen.
Back to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, the latest rumors point to the presence of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 in both. This chipset is the fastest on the market for Android phones and is already used in the Galaxy S21.
We do not know too much about what else the Z Flip 3 will include, but the Z Fold 3 can offer 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage as standard, in addition to a 6.21-inch external monitor.
Galaxy Z Flip
Samsung is expected to kill the Galaxy Note series this summer, and the Galaxy Z Fold line can serve as a replacement, at least in the premium smartphone segment, by offering a built-in stylus. To ensure that the pen does not damage the fragile screen, Samsung is expected to use the second generation of its flexible Ultra Thin Glass technology.
Do not expect much focus on the cameras
Cameras have never been the focus of folding, and that should still be true on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. The latter can borrow the entire camera setup from Galaxy S21, which offers a 12-megapixel main sensor and 12-megapixel ultra-wide combined with a 64-megapixel 3x hybrid zoom camera.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3, on the other hand, can use a less impressive variant of the Galaxy S21 Ultra’s camera setup. As for the selfie camera, it was rumored that Samsung could use technology under the screen on Fold 3 to create an even more immersive viewing experience.
