IKEA is now working on making small houses. And fortunately for triggered thousands of furniture owners everywhere, you do not need that one-time key. It is already built.
The Swedish furniture company is experimenting with prefabricated houses through the Ikea Tiny Home Project, and sells homes of 187 square meters on flat cars.
The small house effort is a partnership with Vox Creative and motorhome builder Escape.
Currently, the only model available is the IKEA version of the Escape’s Boho XL Wide model, which starts at $ 47,550. There are about 368 POÄNG chairs, for everyone who counts.

“How I started was listing all the needs of the space,” said IKEA senior interior design manager Abbey Stark in a promotional video. “Like, how do you design around a wheel well and the mechanics of the home? I wanted to provide renewable, reusable and recycled materials whenever possible to make the space functional and beautiful. ”
Small homes are the rage of environmentally conscious minimalist types, and have even managed to stay in fashion through the pandemic, when the last thing anyone wants is a smaller room.
But with benefits including a trailer bed, compostable toilet and solar panels, IKEA’s small house has the job anywhere that many have applied for during the pandemic.
