It's hard to be the captain of Assassin's Creed Odyssey . Naval battle is one of the harder aspects of the game, and while it will always be tough, these tips should help you deal with any blocks or pirates you come across.
Upgrade your hull first
Ship fights are about to overcome the enemy, so upgrade your hull as much as you can to survive longer and equip more lieutenants. From there, you are welcome to upgrade your primary arsenal of arrows and javelins.
Get firepiles ASAP
You do not need to get materials to upgrade the fire master to the maximum level, but you should have the opportunity as soon as possible. Firepiles will supplement your head injury and destroy your attacks with little damage over time that eats away on enemy ships before the next major attack.
Alternate Spears And Arrows
Your capabilities are on a cooling, which means you can not just spam the same attack over and over. Try to switch between arrows and spears instead of blowing through too fast. Persistent damage wins marine battles more than large, bursty volleys. Be aware of your purchases, and you will always be injured.
Keep Your Distance
Unless you move to hit the enemy, it's okay to keep your distance. If you hold down the arrow keys or Javelins attack button, you can throw them a little longer than if you just pressed the button. The goal is to survive until you can board, so keep a fair distance and drag your enemy down. The extra space will make it easier to escape too, if things make a scam worse.
It takes a simple button press to tighten and reduce damage from enemy attacks, so you might as well do it. You should only risk hurting if you know that you are going to take an enemy. Otherwise you can play it safely. There are no cool soldering rewards to die.
If you see a glowing section on enemy ships, it's a focal point. Point your best weapon at that location and you will do extra damage. You can expose these points faster by ramming opponents or using firepiles.
Recruiting the Best Lieutenants
One thing that most captains neglect is how often they will recruit new lieutenants for their ships. Any enemy you knock out can be recruited. You can seize a merciless soldier from a fort if you really wanted, but you should really try to be more discerning. Invoke Ikaros and hover your reticule over tougher enemies like polemarker and captains to see their rarity. This makes it easier to find legendary (purple) or even epic (gold) NPCs. You can even recruit some of the mercenaries who wander the world if you knock them out. Refine your levels and continue to recruit throughout the game. You will not regret it.
Use the Lieutenants to Increase Your Best Weapons
When you have a large staff of recruits, it's time to get discerning. Examine their properties carefully for bonuses that synergize well with the ship's lastout. Extra firepile damage may sound good, but it is wasted if you only have the starting fire master. But if you have a very good frame, you can take a lieutenant who can increase your frame statistics to play on your strengths. As long as you have a solid hull for protection, the lieutenants give you a chance to customize your style on the high seas. Having an all-encompassing crew is nice, but specializing in your best tool, is even better.
Go to the simple door
Every time you board a ship and take out the crew you will restore your own ship to Health. Defeat the simplest enemies and resist their attacks and remove them when they are vulnerable. If they hang out with other ships, try pulling them away so you can take them out one at a time. It will make fighting against blockages easier and give you the health you need to take on bigger ships.
Start fighting on your terms
You can see enemies a lot before they perceive you. Use it as a chance to open up with a ram attack or persistent volley to make great damage and start with an advantage.
Did you know that you can only swim there?
If a tough ship has you down and you feel very confident in your awesome combat skills, skip your ship before you are discovered and just swim over to the enemy's vessel. Climb aboard, and if you can handle the crew with one hand, you can avoid difficult shipwreck all the way.
You do not have to kill everyone to complete an appearance. All you have to do is remove the deck on the ship. So embrace your inner Gerard Butler and start killing people left and right using Spartan Kick and other backlinking skills to send the toughest enemies that fall into the ocean below.
These tips should help you survive longer on the big ocean. Take time to loot lighter ships as well as really build our ship and crew. With some practice you become more intimidating than Poseidon yourself.
