Heroes of the Storm's future in question, Blizzard scales back development

The Future of Heroes of the Storm Blizzard Entertainment's MOBA collecting heroes from Diablo, StarCraft, Warcraft and Overwatch begins to look gloomy. Blizzard President J. Allen Breck and Chief Executive Officer Ray Gresko said today that the company changes development resources away from Heroes of the Storm and puts developers on other projects.

In a statement published today, Breck and Gresko called the development on the scale Heroes of the Storm a "difficult decision" that will affect the future of the game.

"Over several years, we have been working to evaluate our development processes and made hard decisions leading to new games and other products that we are proud of," Blizzard said. "We now have more live games and unannounced projects than anything time in the company's history. We are also at a point where we need to take some of our talented developers and bring their skills to other projects. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to move some developers from Heroes of the Storm to other teams, and we are pleased to see the passion, knowledge and experience that they will bring to these projects. This is not the first time we have made tough choices like this. Play as Diablo II World of Warcraft StarCraft II Overwatch and more would not exist if we had not made similar decisions in the past. "

Blizzard said it plans to continue to support Heroes of the Storm with new heroes and theme events," although the cadence will change. "

" Finally, re establish the game for long-term sustainability, "said Blizzard.

The company also canceled its two events for Heroes of the Storm pro-focused Heroes Global Championship and Collegiate Level Men in the Dorm series.

"[A] Fter looks at all our priorities and alternatives in light of the change of the game, the Heroes Global Championship and Heroes of the Dorm will not come back in 2019, Blizzard says. "This was another very difficult decision for us to do. The love that society has for these programs is deeply felt by everyone who works with them, but we ultimately mean that this is the right decision to come forward in a way that does not

On Heroes of the Storm the esports side thanked the team for its fans and players, as echo a lot of what Breck and Gresko said.

] "It has been an incredible journey for HGC, and we are forever grateful to anyone who has touched the program," says Heroes Esports Team. "This was a tough decision for all of us, but one we agree is the right decision in light of the change with the game and our desire to only deliver the best competitive experiences with all our eports programs."

Heroes of Stormen was launched in 2015. The game was born out of a custom StarCraft 2 map known as Blizzard DOTA intended to showcase real-time strategy game's modeling tools. Blizzard later called MOBA to Blizzard All-Stars before he sat on Heroes of the Storm . While the game did not find a wide audience on par with many of its other games, Blizzard cultivated a smaller but passionate player base for Heroes of the Storm and recently began to be fun nice with the Cross-Unique MOBA.
