The first wave of content was released in June, and includes an expanded list of characters, new weapon types, new challenges in the Royal Ancient Lab, and new enemies to fight for.The second wave, coming in November, will provide new character vignettes, new scenes, a further expanded list and new combat skills for existing characters.
At the moment, it does not appear that this expansion adds to the existing history of the game in any way.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is a musou title in the same direction as the original Hyrule Warriors game, and was developed in collaboration with Dynasty Warriors producer Koei Tecmo. Today’s Direct also had more for musou fans, with the announcement of the Samurai Warriors 5 coming to Switch this summer.
