It’s almost April, which means we’re about a third of the way through 2021. I know life’s moving fast. Although there have been some highlights, Hitman 3 and Super Mario 3D World, the year has been relatively quiet on the video game front. The next few months seem to be changing that, with games like Deathloop andon the horizon.
Unlike last year, 2021 has no flashy new hardware to look forward to –̵

The new Pokemon Snap is a popular sequel to N64’s favorite Pokemon Snap from 1999. The game, announced last summer, will include more than 200 Pokemon species from the eight-generation series, and Professor Mirror will assess your photographic skills as you travel through the region. .
It should completely rock, take a game idea from the N64 and adapt it to the Switch, which feels like a perfect console for Poketography. It starts on April 30.
Games optimized for PS5 are fine, but games that are exclusive to PS5 are better. Returnal is one of the first exclusive big-budget titles to come on a next-generation console, and its spectacular imagery reflects this distinction. It follows a space pilot (you) who is stuck on an alien planet and in a time loop, so it is a third-person shooter with horror and roguelike elements.
Don’t let the name fool you: Resident Evil Village is truly Resident Evil 8. It’s a direct sequel to Resident Evil 7’s story, but developers called it “Village” to denote how the village game takes place in is a central element. Not so subtle – but make sure to be scary. It seems to be big too, as the developers have promised a bigger game than Resident Evil 7.
Resident Evil Village launches May 7 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X | S and PC.
After many years focusing mainly on Dishonored, developers Arkane Studios are moving to a new IP in Deathloop. And it looks sick.
Here’s the idea: You’re an assassin caught in a time loop that resets after every day. To get out, you must kill eight “visionaries” scattered around an island. The warning is that you must do it within a time slot. The second warning is that when you hunt for the eight visionaries, a rival assassin keeps busy. hunt you.
Deathloop will hit PlayStation 5 and PC on May 21, with an Xbox version likely to arrive next year (it has a one-year console exclusivity).

The premise of Knockout City looks simple and familiar. Teams of players running around a skatepunk-ish futuristic city, launching things against each other to win. Here are the things dodgeballs. Knockout City, a cross between dodgeball and Splatoon, is about multiplayer. It supports cross games between PC, Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X | S.
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart
Release Date: June 11th
The latest Ratchet and Clank game was supposed to hit the PlayStation 5 under the console’s “launch window”, but by the end of 2020 it still had no release date. After a few months of silence, it was revealed in February that Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart would be released on June 11. This is a PlayStation 5 exclusive to look forward to.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is coming to PlayStation 5, but it’s not just getting standard 60 frames per second at 4K processing. Final Fantasy 7 Intergrade brings a new chapter to the story where you play as Yuffie, a favorite from the original game.
The launch on June 10, owners of 7 Remake on PS4 will receive a free upgrade.
Mario dusts his clubs for another 18 holes. Mario Golf: Super Rush repeats the N64’s Mario Golf, and is Mario’s third sports trip on the Switch after Tennis and the Winter Olympics (with Sonic). Super Rush includes a promising multiplayer mode, as well as a role-playing single-player mode that plays your Mii stars.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 is still coming, but it looks away for a while. Meanwhile, the Nintendo Skyward Sword, released in 2011 on the Wii, is reviving the Switch. Skyward Sword HD will run at 60 frames per second, enjoy Amiibo support and use Joy-Cons to control Link’s sword and shield.
No More Heroes is a hack-and-slash game series that started back in 2008 on the Wii. It has since gathered a significant cult following, and has had strong criticism of the criticism. Following a COVID-19-related delay, No More Heroes 3 will be released on Switch on August 27.
Games coming ‘TBA’ 2021
The following titles are scheduled for release this year. We are updating this page as games get an official release date.
The Pokémon Company
Pokemon Red and Blue got a remake on Game Boy Advance (and later on Switch), silver and gold on DS, and Ruby and Sapphire on 3DS. Pearl and Diamond, which was originally released on DS in 2007, is next.
Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will arrive at Switch in late 2021.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake
Release Date: 2021.
Remasters are cool, but remake can be really magical. After Shadow of the Colossus, Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake, three fantastic remakes, 2021 brings Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Originally released in 2003 for PlayStation 2, Ubisoft gives the platform player a full 2021 transition. Hopefully.
The game was originally scheduled for January 2021, but was then delayed until March. It’s delayed again, but Ubsisoft has not given it a new date yet.
Price of Persia: The Sands of Time is set to launch on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
Lego Star Wars is back after five years. The last time we saw the series was with The Force Awakens from 2016. This game seems far more ambitious: The Skywalker Saga Lego-izes all nine Star Wars movies.
Skywalker Saga does not have a final release date yet, but it is expected in the first or second quarter. When it releases, it hits PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, Switch and PC.
Far Cry 6
Release Date: 2021
Originally scheduled for February, Far Cry 6 has been delayed to an unknown date in 2021. But it is set to be the largest, most full-fledged Far Cry yet, and is located in the tropical region of Yara – loosely based in Cuba.
Not only will the game launch on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X | S, PC and Google Stadia, it also comes to Amazon’s Luna platform.
The headlining trailer for last year’s Game Awards was a new Mass Effect. It’s probably far away though. The upside? More time for remastered Mass Effect goodness. Mass Effect Legendary Edition consists of updated (but not redesigned) versions of Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 and will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Halo Infinite was supposed to be the big thing that was launched along with the Xbox Series X | S, but after a poor fan response to a preview last year, it ended up being delayed until the fall of 2021. The Halo name alone makes this a must-play for most Xbox owners and developers 343 Industries is trying something new by making the multiplayer free play.
Lord of the Rings: Gollum
Release Date: 2021
After the two Middle-Earth games showed that Lord of the Rings games can still rock, 2021 will provide another serving in the form of Lord of the Rings: Gollum. It will not be action-RPG like the Middle-Earth games were, and instead focus on Gollum’s sneaky and cunning, but it looks exciting.
Lord of the Rings: Gollum Comes to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X | S, Switch and PC.
Horizon Forbidden West
Release Date: 2021
Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the best games on PlayStation 4, and the sequel comes in 2021. Horizon Forbidden West traces Aloy’s journey to Utah, Nevada and California from the 30th century while tracing the origins of a killer virus. Really, a game for our time.
Horizon Forbidden West will launch on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 this year.
God of War: Ragnarok
Release Date: 2021
Speaking of excellent PS4 games and their sequels, God of War: Ragnarok is also coming to PlayStation 4 and 5 this year.
That’s actually all we know about the game so far, as the teaser for the game only contained half a logo and the release window from 2021.
