GTA Online for PS3 and Xbox 360 ends

Rockstar pulls the plug on the online service game’s original platforms on December 16

The original versions of Grand Theft Auto Online will soon be dark, as Rockstar Games today announced that they will close the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the open online game on December 16.

The company said it will continue to update and support Grand Theft Auto Online on PS4, Xbox One and PC, as well as PS5 and Xbox Series X | S when these versions are launched this fall.

This will give Grand Theft Auto Online – which went live on 1 October 201

3 – a lifespan of more than seven years on the original platforms.

Until the closure, Rockstar will stop selling in-game currency for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game on September 15.

In other PS3 and Xbox 360 final news, Max Payne 3 will no longer support the Rockstar Games Social Club website for state tracking, leaderboards and online multiplayer functionality from September 16, while the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of LA Noire will lose same-day site tracking .

One player story mode for each of these games is unaffected.
