Although Grand Theft Auto V. has been raging for almost a decade at this point, many fans still have a soft spot for the entry that went before it in GTA IV. Fortunately for that fan base, the fourth part of the long-running series may soon get a major graphic overhaul that could make it far easier to get back to in the future.
In a new project called RevIVe by BisonSales, a new group of modders is actually in the process of remastering Grand Theft Auto IV with modern images. So far, what has turned out to be quite incredible. This feat uses iCEnhancer 4 beta mod to recreate the graphic fidelity to GTA IV. This includes overhauls of the game̵
For now, iCEnhancer and RevIVe have only released a first video showing this graphic mode in action (as you can see above), but what has been highlighted looks good. Although there is still a lot of work to be done on the project, the textures that can be seen in this new iteration of Liberty City match what we have expected from the next generation of titles.
At the moment, this RevIVe project is still early in development and may take a little longer to release. The creators have said that this is just something they are working on in their spare time at the moment, but they want to raise more money through Patreon so they can spend more time creating it.
The other only major downside to this mode is that it will obviously only be available to those on the PC when it arrives. While PlayStation and Xbox games have doubled with mods more over the years, GTA IV is too old to allow this. If you want to play the game on a console, you can do so by digging out the PS3 or by playing on the Xbox One or Xbox Series X / S through backward compatibility.
All in all, if this RevIVe mode ends up seeing the light of day, it will be a truly impressive feat and will certainly do GTA IV so much more tempting to visit again. If there is any further development with the establishment of this mature in the future, we will let you know on our dedicated GTA cover page.
So how do you feel about this elegant new look GTA IV? Is that enough that you potentially want to play through the game again? Give me your thoughts down in the comments, or post me on Twitter at @ MooreMan12 to talk more.[H/T Gaming Bible]
