Google, T-Mobile partnership covers Pixel, RCS, YouTube TV

Google and T-Mobile today announced a major partnership that sees the operator market important services such as RCS, Google One and YouTube TV, as well as the Pixel line.

This multi-year collaboration has four large tent poles, based on the fact that Messages by Google will be the “standard rich messaging solution” and the app on Android devices. The iPhone and iOS are not mentioned in any way today, while the two companies will also work with RCS Business Messaging, and the ongoing end-to-end encryption rollout was spied on.

Deutsche Telekom AG is also engaging in this worldwide pressure for more “consistent messaging services”

; through RCS.

This partnership with Google is part of a broader initiative for T-Mobile US and Deutsche Telekom AG that work across the DT group of companies to create a better and more consistent messaging experience for customers worldwide.

In the meantime, the operator will better market “the whole package of Pixel devices” and other products running Google’s operating system, including Android TV. This partnership speaks surprisingly about highlighting 5G. This is because T-Mobile has “the most Android smartphone customers in the United States.” That way, Google One will be “the preferred solution for backing up and saving your phone.”

“This is a win for Android users and an even bigger win for the Android ecosystem,” said Hiroshi Lockheimer, senior vice president of platforms and ecosystems at Google. “T-Mobile and Google have been working together to fight for Android from the very beginning with the launch of the T-Mobile G1 in 2008. We take what has already been a long and very successful relationship, and build on it to bring Android customers even more features and services. ”

Finally, YouTube TV becomes T-Mobile’s premium streaming solution with customers receiving a $ 10 discount. At $ 54.99 per month, it’s what TVision launched less than six months ago, and is now ending on April 29.

Current TVision customers can get this deal from today through June 30, by logging in to their T-Mobile account or calling T-Mobile Care to get a unique redemption link for offers. Other customers with wireless internet and home internet from T-Mobile can sign up for YouTube TV with T-Mobile for a $ 10 discount per month starting April 6 at https://www.t-mobile.com/tvision.

Not mentioned in today’s partnership is how Google has long used the T-Mobile (and Sprint) network for its Fi MVNO. There is another area of cooperation between the two companies.
