However, Google has not forgotten that, and has apparently decided to mock me with a new tag in the Photo app dedicated to things.
As first discovered by 9to5Google, if you’re opening the Google Photos app right now, it should have a new Memories collection at the top of the screen. These are thematic groupings of images selected by machine learning, and while previous collections have focused on children or food, this one ̵

A word of warning: when The edge staff looked for “Cheers!” collection in their own app, not everyone found it. And those who did, noted that the software did not always capture all the relevant images of jugs. (Maybe it’s a fussy drinker? Can’t relate.)
In any case, it’s another nice demonstration of the power of Google’s machine learning tool, as well as a cruel reminder of what most of us are currently lacking. And please, if you’re in a country where pubs and bars are currently open, where you can just walk out the door and grab a pint in the sunshine, I beg of you: shut up and do not talk to me.
