Google Play Games v5.14 makes it dark theme for everyone, preparing Minesweeper, and … ┴┴┴ ((͡ ° ͜ʖΓ┴┴ a meaningless page project? [APK Teardown]

Google Play Games is officially dark. The update makes the dark theme available to everyone. But it's not all that this update brings, there are now applets and a new sorting feature for achievements coming soon. A teardown also shows the team that is preparing to add Minesweeper to the built – in game repertoire. Oh and we are heard from the dev team and we're fine they are doing well.

What's New?

Official Changelog:

  • Come to the dark side. Go to Settings and turn the switch on our new dark theme.
  • Sort your achievements rarely
  • Short time? Press and hold the Play Games icon and get to your latest games fast.

Unofficial Changelog : (the things we found) [1

9659004] Built-in game no w has animated icons

Dark Theme

We've known that it came awhile and now the dark theme is officially live in Google Play Games. After a few reports, it began to appear a few days before the latest version came out, so the switch was probably enabled externally at the same time as the update began to roll out.

To enable the dark theme, just open Settings from the overflow menu, then check for the dark theme switch around halfway down the screen. If the switch is not there, try to force close game play and restart it.

Appgenveier

Play Games now supports app launches in launch, with the latest games you've loaded and installed.

If your launch supports it, drag the shortcuts to turn them into their own launcher icons. It may sound a bit unnecessary, since you can only add game icons directly to your launcher, but this also gives you the ability to add the built-in games like Snake and Cricket to the home screen.

Anyway, this offers some potential for keeping your home screen less cluttered while still having relatively quick access to more things.

Sort your achievements rarely

In September, Play Games began to show rarities on achievements, giving players a sense of how many or how few players have managed to cross any of these goals. According to the official swap, it is now possible to sort the list of achievements based on rarity.

I'm not sure if I've missed that functionality, but it does not really seem to be available to me in the app yet. Perhaps this will be enabled remotely, or maybe it's part of an update that has not yet been released to the public, or maybe everyone else has it, but me.

Animated icons for embedded games

The embedded games now have a little more character to them. As you roll through the carousel to one of Google's own games, they begin to animate in cute ways. Each has its own twist and they are cute enough to be worth looking at more than once.

I know this is not exactly the most trafficy way to start games, but now I'd rather see a way for third party games to add my own animations. Admit that the Monument Valley icon animated in this style will be nothing short of amazing.

Upcoming Games: Minesweeper

At some point in most of our lives we have stuck on a Windows computer with nothing to do in addition to Play Solitaire or Minesweeper. The Dev team behind Play Games is well aware of this and as part of a redesign, you've also added Solitaire together with two other classic mini games by the end of last year. Now they go back to cope with the venerable Minesweeper.
