Do not despair if you long for a Google budget, but want something more powerful than today’s Pixel line. Amazon sells 64 GB Pixel 4 for only $ 400, with B&H Photo equivalent to that price. This is a very low level for the former flagship, and makes it cheaper than a new Pixel 4a 5G – worth considering whether processing power means more than the latest wireless technology.

You can also buy the 128 GB version at a discount on both sides, although B&H currently offers a better deal of $ 430 against Amazon’s $ 470.
There are some caveats. Pixel 4 is almost two years old, so it does not get many more Android updates (Android 12 is one of them). Battery life and screen brightness are strictly so-so. And Google’s motion sensing feature was never properly panned – that’s a nice bonus, but not something you’ll probably want to use on a daily basis.
On the other hand, this may be a better value than today’s Pixel 4a and 5 models, especially with the premium Pixel 6 series probably on the horizon. You get a fairly fast device with a smooth screen and still great cameras for as much or less than slower, usually less capable phones. As long as you can live with quirks, it can provide a better overall experience.
