One of the best features of the new Gmail is the fast-access page with easy access to Google Calendar, Tasks, Keep and Gmail extensions. Now Google has the same functionality for Google Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drawings.
In Google Calendar, you can quickly access Keep and Tasks, while in the rest of the G Suite apps, you have easy access to calendar, storage, and tasks.
In Gmail, the sidebar also provides access to various G extensions that you may have installed from the market. It does not look like it's possible in Docs and Calendar right now, but it's probably just a matter of time before there will be compatible additions for these products as well. Then we will probably see a section of "Works with Google Calendar" and support for other G Suite apps on the market.
I already see this in my personal Google Calendar, but not in Google Docs, so this seems to be a slow deployment. The official word is that paying G Suite subscribers to the quick release plan will be able to access now, with those who have the slower release plan, get access in two weeks.
