Richard Rawlings, the star television host of several car-related television programs on Discovery Network, crashed while pulling the Roadkill Nights celebrity showdown on the famous Woodward Avenue in Pontiac, Michigan.
Rawlings ran toward NHRA superstar Leah Pritchett on the wheel of a Dodge Challenger Hellcat when he seemed to spin the tires a bit too long and lost control of the back. Rawlings tried to get back, but his little turn of the steering wheel just drove him into the driver's barrier. Despite the fact that he did not get much speed thanks to a long burnout, he initially made it about 60-70 miles per hour when the accident occurred. I personally experienced a crash from the Dodge SRT hospitality trailer, and while it was not life-threatening, it's enough to scare the bejesus out of someone who's not used to crashing in walls in speed.
Needless to say the crowd Had a good laugh at Rawling's expense.
"You demonstrated all the way into the wall!" a fan shouted at Rawlings when his Hellcat slowly rolled to the finish line. "It sucks a lot of time," he added.
Pritchett, who ran for the NHRA championship's winning Don Schumacher Racing team, continued to win the race and continued to the next round. However, former WWE professional wrestler Bill Goldberg broke the competition (quite literally) to earn the title of fastest celebrity races on Woodward Avenue.
