Less than a week after it first arrived, Fortnite's controversial new weapon, Infinity Blade, has been removed. Developer Epic Games announced that it swords swords across all modes due to the remarkable effect on the game's balance and the lack of any reliable counter.
"We beat up and rolled out Infinity Blade overpowered / without good counters, especially in the final game, wrote" Epic . "Infinity Blade has been vaulted and we are considering our approach to mythical objects. Thank you for calling us out!"
Infinity Blade came to Fortnite earlier this week as part of the game's 7.01
Like Infinity Gauntlet from the short-lived Thanos LTM, Infinity Blade gives its wielder incredible powers, including increased peak health and shield, increased speed of movement and more. While it is still possible to kill the player who swears, it is clear that the first person who manages to pick it up has great advantage. Epic's decision to completely remove it from the game comes shortly after the developer had said it would reduce Infinity Blade's effectiveness.
It is unclear whether or not Epic plans to reintroduce Infinity Blade to Fortnite, but the developer mentioned that it is "reassessing [its] approach to mythical objects," which suggests that other special types of weapons may be in the works of the game.
