The next week is to be a part of Fortnite. Not only will it mark the start of the newly announced High Stakes event, developer Epic Games will also roll out Fortnite's new 5.40 patch, and it seems that it will make some major changes to the popular battle royal game.
Studio outlined some of the incoming changes in a new developer update . First, 5.40 patch makes some tweaks to the storm. In particular, the edge of the storm will now lead to damage to player designs "in the last stages" of the match. Epic says that this change was made in an attempt to "give a little more dynamic gameplay" during the last stretch of the game.
Additionally, Epic has announced that it adds a new weapon into Vault with the 5.40 update. This time the revolver will be vaulted and effectively remove it from the game. "This is part of an initiative to keep the element the pool feels fresh and dynamic," said Epic. While it means players can no longer find the weapon, Epic tells that it can always come back to the game in the future.
Epic has also said that introducing a new "mobility element" as part of the 5.40 update, even though the studio did not give any details about it. In addition, Epic says that it will increase the rarity of rare explosives from rare to epic "to match efficiency", and it will customize stack sizes for particular objects when they release, such as Boogie Bomb. Together with 5.40 patch, Fortnite players have the High Stakes event to look forward to next week.
